Meet Our Manager, Michael.

Michael Holden

Michael is a born and bred Newfoundlander and loves to be an ambassador for his home.

From 2003 to 2018, Michael worked for EF Tours in Lucerne, Switzerland and was constantly travelling to Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, Benelux, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe. His all-time favourite and proudest travel moment was in 2016, at the 100th Anniversary remembrance ceremony of the Battle Beaumont Hamel, France, attended by thousands of Newfoundlanders.

He felt Newfoundland homesickness so strongly that he moved back home in 2018 with his Swiss wife, Barbara and their 2 boys, Jake and Luke. Michael loves being a hockey Dad and an active member of his sons’ school community — managing three hockey teams and sitting on the parents’ auxiliary at their school.

Michael is an avid reader of history, loves great story-telling and can be found on weekends hiking and outdoors regardless of the weather. He is an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoys being out in the woods or on the water, especially with the family’s golden doodle Brownie.

Climate change and natural living are vitally important to Michael and his family. Michael is also heavily involved in helping new Ukrainians here in Newfoundland, launching a Facebook group to assist them — it now has 31,000 members.

Michael is a people person through and through and loves helping and hosting every guest at Bannerman Park Suites.
